What Are the Doshas?
In Ayurveda, everything in nature including our bodies is made of five elements: space, air, fire, water, and earth.
These elements combine to form three energetic principles called Doshas.
The doshas govern how your body functions, how your mind processes experiences, and how you respond to food, stress, climate, and lifestyle.
Each person has a unique combination of all three doshas, but usually one or two are more dominant. When your doshas are balanced, you feel energized, clear, and aligned. When they are out of balance, physical and emotional symptoms may appear.

Vata
Elements: Air & Ether
Vata represents movement and creativity. When balanced, it brings energy and inspiration. When imbalanced, it can cause dryness, bloating, anxiety, and irregular digestion.
Food impact: Vata benefits from warm, grounding, nourishing foods with healthy oils and gentle spices to support digestion and stability.

Pitta
Elements: Fire & Water
Pitta represents transformation and metabolism. When balanced, it brings focus and strong digestion. When imbalanced, it may cause inflammation, acidity, and irritability.
Food impact: Pitta thrives on cooling, calming foods that are less spicy, moderately sweet, and hydrating to balance internal heat.

Kapha
Elements: Earth & Water
Kapha represents structure and stability. When balanced, it brings strength and calmness. When imbalanced, it may lead to heaviness, sluggish digestion, and weight gain.
Food impact: Kapha benefits from light, warming, and stimulating foods with spices that support metabolism and energy.
